Aldís Einarsdóttir is one of our most talented ceramicists and we visited her in her beautiful studio where she has the facilities to glaze the products she designs.
Aldís has been sculpting ceramics for decades, and the experience is evident when you see the artist at work. Her handiwork is so precise and meticulous. But where did she get this talent?
"I studied in Germany with Gerhard Schwarz. He was very strict and would hit students if he wasn't satisfied with their work. There was a lot of pressure to study under those conditions, so you wanted to do well."

Aldís designs products that are sold in Rammagerðinn and in recent years has started working on projects with Rammagerðinn that have achieved great success. An example is the aromatherapy vessel, which is a unique design product and an ideal gift. The aromatherapy vessel is a ceramic bowl that Aldís has made, a small spirit candle goes into the bowl and a small lava lump is placed in the opening. Then, essential oil from Fischersund is dropped onto the lava lump. When the candle is lit and the heat reaches the lava lump, the aroma of the oil spreads throughout the space.

Aldís' son Davíð Georg Gunnarsson recently graduated as an architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture. He has started working with his mother in the workshop and was involved in the design of the Ilmker .

We look forward to continuing to work with these talented mothers. We encourage you to stop by Rammagerðina and check out Aldís and Davíð's products that are in our product range.
