Story of the brand:
What started 26 years ago as a way for two young friends, Kormákur (drummer) and Skjöldur (chef), to afford to take their girlfriends out for a grand dinner on New Year's Eve has grown into the premier destination for all things menswear in Iceland.
Guided by a shared passion for heritage menswear with a twist of the cold, dark nordic they, together with lead designer and partner Gunni Hilmarsson (All Saints, Bestseller, Day Birger et Mikkelsen, Dita Von Teese), have created a unique brand that focuses on quality, both in fabrics and fit. Gunni is on the board of the Nordic Fashion Association and a founding member of the Global Fashion Agenda. The brand now has five retail stores in Iceland.
The story of the Icelandic Tweed:
For the first time in almost fifty years, we now have high-quality tweed fabric made from entirely Icelandic wool. For years Kormákur and Skjöldur have worked to establish the unique Icelandic Tweed brand and make the dream of reviving this historical fabric come true. The wool comes from all corners of Iceland. The wool band is spun locally in Iceland and then it is woven in one of the finest mills in Europe. The whole process is sustainable and all our partners in this project have certificates of the highest standard. What we love about our Tweed fabrics is that it´s true to the Tweed heritage and at the same time true to the Nordic values of quality and sustainability.
